Beliefs

We Believe.

That the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God (II Pet. 1:20, 21 and II Tim. 3:16) God's word will last forever (Mt. 24:35).

That there is only one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (I Jn. 5:7; Jn. 1:32-34).

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (Jn. 10:30), in His virgin birth (Mt. 1:23), in His sinless life (Heb. 4:14, 15), in His miracles (Mt. 4:23, 24), in His vicarious and atoning death (Acts 4:12; I Jn. 2:2), in His bodily resurrection (I Cor. 15:3, 4), in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Jn. 20:17), and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory (Lu. 21:27).

In the blessed hope of the rapture of the Church at Christ's second coming (I Thess. 4:16, 17).

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ (Eph. 2:8, 9; I Jn. 1:7, 9).

God is willing that none would perish, that all would come to repentance (II Pet. 3:9b) and is therefore willing to accept all that believe, repent and call upon His Name (Rom. 3:22).

Security of salvation in Jesus Christ does not preclude a person from willfully walking away and choosing to abandon the faith and their salvation (Heb. 6:4-6).

That regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation (Jn. 3:3,5; Tit. 3:5).

That the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it as a second work of grace which empowers Believers for service (Acts 2:38; Luke. 11:11, 13).

That the redemptive work of Christ on the cross can provide healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer (Pet. 2:24; Jas. 5:14-16).

In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life (Col. 1:22; Eph. 1:4).

In the resurrection of the saved and the lost, one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation (Rev. 20:6).

In John Chapter 3, Jesus talks to a man named Nicodemus. Nicodemus was a good man interested in Jesus and His work.

Verse 3 reads,"I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." He goes on to say in verse 5, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit..."

Jesus tells us we must be "born again". He also said, "I am the way and  the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6).

We believe that Jesus is clear in stating that He alone is the way to salvation. It comes through a spiritual birth. Spiritual birth takes place when we believe in Jesus' identity as God's only begotten Son.  When we ask God to forgive us for our sin and give our lives to Him. When we give our lives to God, we turn away from sin and disobedience. As children grow, so God's Spirit gives us the power to resist temptation and leave sinful lifestyles. The Christian life is a life of growth.

In exchange for our faith, God gives us grace, which is unmerited or undeserved favor. This means that He accepts us because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. He bore our punishment on himself. When we believe in Jesus, we believe His sacrifice atoned for our sin.

Obedience is followed by water baptism. This is a public testimony of a life that has been given to God and born of water as Jesus said above. See Romans 6 for the meaning of Baptism.

On Sex and Marriage
Genesis states that God created us male and female. Each gender expresses a unique likeness to our Creator. It is a gift from God. Consequently our gender is sacred and immutable. Therefore cannot be changed.

We believe that God gave sex as a gift of intimacy to be celebrated in the context of marriage. Scripture teaches, "That in the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." Matthew 19:4-6
Consequently, God's design for marriage is between a man and a woman. Our convictions do not allow us to officiate or recognize any other type of union.

We believe that the Bible teaches that homosexual behavior is a sin. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolators nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." (See also Romans 1:18-27)

Cross dressing is a form of sexual immorality and therefore a sin.
Viewing pornography is also a form of sexual immorality and a sin.

We do not believe that any particular sin is better or worse than any other. However, all sin leads to death (Romans 6:23). Accordingly, our desire is that all would find freedom and repentence. "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter3:9-10
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to anyone that confesses and forsakes their sin. We passionately believe that God can and will joyfully deliver any person from any sin. Because of this, we welcome all that enter here in the hope that you will encounter God and find His love and strength to leave any sin or lifestyle contrary to God's design.

We believe that no particular sin is worse than any other sin. All of us struggle with sin and therefore have no room to "cast stones." We strive to treat every person with kindness, compassion and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior directed at any person is not acceptable or condoned in Faith Bible Chapel.
